Here is the DIY Trail Mix Station from the Camping Birthday Party I wrote about earlier this this week. Since one of our party activities was going on a nature scavenger hunt, I wanted the kids to have a carry-along snack to take with them in case they got hungry.
I made the DIY trail mix station by filling pie pans and an old mess kit with simple snacks that the children could fill their own paper bags with.
The sign for the trail mix station was made using layered kraft and dark brown cardstock. I then hot glued some river rocks I purchased at Michael’s onto the bottom.
The pans were filled with different kinds of cereal, goldfish crackers, marshmallows, pretzels, peanuts and chocolate chips.
I took paper lunch sacks and printing the words “trail mix” on them for a fun detail. You can put the lunch sack into your printer and print directly onto them.
The children loved making their own bag of trail snacks, and making their own personal snack mix was an activity in itself. A great inexpensive activity which also served as decor for the Camping Birthday Party.
I’ve included the free printable download for the trail mix sign and paper bag. Just download and print onto your own cardstock and paper lunch sacks.
Any chance you could share a printable for the Scavenger Hunt? We are doing a camping birthday party this Saturday and it sure would save me some time to steal from you! :) Thanks for all the awesome ideas, we are very excited!
Are we too late? Email me and I will send it to you.
Hey, Jill! I could really use that scavenger hunt if you could email it to me, too! Found your site via pinterest, looking for camping party ideas. I am borrowing several ideas from you! Also, because I am all matchy-matchy, can you tell me what font you used and where you found the little sign icons you used? Thanks so much!
Hi Kim, I am so sorry that I just saw this. Do you still need the scavenger hunt? I assume that I am too late.
